Arrondir is taken prisoner. He is taken to a slave camp run by Orcs. He finds himself in the middle of dozens of chained villagers.
Arrondir meets Revion and Medhor and they continue to dig, wondering what the Orcs are looking for. Perhaps a new leader succeeding Morgoth is leading them. The three men organize to escape from the camp despite the Orcs' violent surveillance.
Galadriel wakes up on a boat with Halbrand, another passenger held prisoner. The boat is that of Elendil, who wishes to bring her before Queen Miriel in the Kingdom of Númenor, the Isle of Kings, the westernmost of the Kingdoms. This Kingdom was once friendly to the Elven people, but no longer.
Galadriel wishes to borrow a ship from the Queen to go to the Middle Lands. The Kingdom gives them three days to consider this request.
Galadriel speaks with Elendil who addresses her in Elvish. He tells her that he learned it in the Hall of Traditions. She wishes to go there.
In the Harfoots' village, it is time for their annual festival. But they are worried about Largo, whose foot is in bad shape. He can't travel like this anymore. Nori wants to help the Stranger and looks for a star map. The Stranger is always kept hidden so as not to alert the rest of the village.
