- It's packed with anger, emotion, vulnerability from Rosa's end.
- [Manda] I think Ben, our writer, was very interested in the idea of, "How does someone raised in a very stimulating intellectual environment come to make these terrible, terrible choices and decisions?
- [Hannah] What attracted me to the role of Rosa is just the depth and ... she is so complicated, and just knotted with so much, like, juxtaposing feelings and kind of truths, and what she's fighting for and actually the regret and there's just so much to play with this character.
She's got a very tough exterior, but a vulnerable side.
And that vulnerable side has a lot to do with her father, Sonny.
- And I wasn't always very much of a dad.
Sonny, to me, are those older brothers who wake in political awareness, back in the 60's.
- Professor Sonny Persaud, well, well!
- Yeah!
Sorry, his name means nothing to me.
- Radical American academic who's very close to the Panthers for one, never joined them.
- [Hannah] Rosa is seeking comfort with Robert, who is the leader of this anti, you know, religious terrorist group.
- [Johan] Robert is a Belgian guy, he's a radical atheist who decides that the world needs atheist terrorism.
- Nothing has led to more bloodshed than religion.
- [Johan] He seduces Rosa and brainwashes her into his political ideas, and she goes along with them.
- [Hannah] There is a real struggle and fight within this character.
Within Rosa.
