About this movie

After a spectacular crash-landing on an uncharted planet, brash astronaut Leo Davidson (Mark Wahlberg) finds himself trapped in a savage world where talking apes dominate the human race. Desperate to find a way home, Leo must evade the invincible gorilla army led by ruthless General Thade (Tim Roth) and his most trusted warrior, Attar (Michael Clarke Duncan). Now the pulse-pounding race is on to reach a sacred temple that may hold the shocking secrets of mankind's past - and the last hope for it's salvation! Based on Pierre Boulle's classic novel "Planet of the Apes," the premise for this film has become one of the most recognized and provocative concepts in the canon of science fiction literature and cinema. Visionary filmmaker Tim Burton (Batman, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow) has taken Boulle's basic idea and built upon it a uniquely envisioned journey to an incredible upside-down world.

The absolute worst thing created. Hated it. Cannot believe it was released, it actually makes the Mark W. Look bad as a person to allow this to be released as a video. How they didn't get even ten minutes into filming and decide, 'nope, terrible idea, let's shut it down and not waste time, effort, and money', baffles me. The originals are good and the latest ones are good as well, but this one sucks.

For Tim Burton to do a remake of a Masterpiece of Science Fiction and turn it into a complete abomination is beyond me. and to use the overrated Mark Wahlberg as your leading man is the reason why he never gets any respect during Oscar time Mark Wahlberg as the leading man compared to the great Charlton Heston the original leading man of Planet of the Apes. Tim Burton serious need some sort of psychiatric evaluation plus a completely lame plot!!!

How disappointing that so many big names were part of this train wreck. Make-up was a joke. Even my 10 year old pointed out things that made no sense. To call the effects 'special' has a dual meaning here too. This abomination was laughably terrible.
