Mad Max is about a cop named Max and stuff happens. That's about it. The film jumps around without any real point. The film is set in the post apocalypse yet there's cops, ambulances, cable tv, news, ice cream shops, etc. What? Nothing noteworthy happens the entire film until the last 15 minutes, and then it just ends. Overall an awful film, and I suggest just skipping and watching Road Warrior and Fury Road. Road Warrior explains everything you need to know in this anyways, and Fury Road is a reboot.

A little hard to follow at some points, and definitely not what you'd expect if all you know about Mad Max is Fury Road advertising and the XBONE/PS4 game, but it was really good. Will probably update this after a second viewing, but my first reaction: Good movie, if you're planning on watching any of the Mad Max films, don't skip it.

I wanted to see the original Mad Max because I wanted to get the backstory after seeing MM Fury Road just recently (which was amazing btw). I have to say that I'm disappointed with this movie, not because it was terrible, but because 1: It got a 98% on RT and definitely doesn't deserve that rating and 2: We *still* don't get any real backstory with this movie. I realize that this movie was made in a different era, but watching it today just seems quite cheesy. There's no real acting involved (not that Gibson was ever a good actor to begin with) and there's no real story either, but the action scenes were pretty good for their time. Another disappointing feature about the movie is the lack of violence that can be seen, again another dated aspect of the film. Had I seen this movie when it first came out I probably would have given it 4 stars, as it is I'll give it 3.
