About this movie

Johnny Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Ewan McGregor lead an all-star cast in this criminally funny comedy. After a priceless painting is stolen, shady art dealer Charlie Mortdecai (Depp) is recruited by an old rival (McGregor) to get it back. Mortdecai questions his rival's intentions, but takes the job for the money and to keep his high-maintenance wife (Paltrow) happy. With the help of his manservant, Mortdecai must face terrorists, angry Russians, and more in a hilarious globe-trotting chase.

I thought this was a fun movie, which was based on a book DON'T POINT THAT THING AT ME. The soundtrack is awesome, the quips between lord and man servant and lord and detective were hilarious. The problem here is Gwyneth Paltrow. She didn't seem to fit the part. I believe they could have casted someone who had more chemistry with Depp. Depp is a chameleon who can play any character and nearly any genre. He's one of the best actors of our time. Don't take this film seriously. It's a fun little comedy.

I do not watch a movie because it has this actor or that actor in it.I watch a movie based on its merits of the screenwriter(s),director, poducers, and then actors.A great screenplay can carry the lack of talent of the director and actors,a talented director can motivate the worst of actors and maybe minuplate the screenplay to make a film and the producers, the really good ones, find ways to make crap into gold. With that said, there was nothing that could save this crap but to flush.

Johnny Depp commits to his characters 100%. I accepted this movie from Scene 1 where Mordtecai slaps the face of a villain and claims there was a fly on his face. He slaps him twice in that scene actually. Cheap laughs sure but it's Depp's delivery that is key. It's what pulled me in.
