American Made

This is truly an "American Made" story. It's got everything that makes America great, and also some things that make American politics not so great. There's a lot of history here and most of it is pretty ugly. Perhaps this movie has a lesson for people to learn, or maybe it's just a good story. Regardless, it's got lots of action, humor, interesting characters and best of all, great flying scenes with an iconic American made aircraft, the Aerostar. Anyone who knows anything about Aviation history knows this as the fastest production civilian piston twin ever made.

What could have been an epic saga (a la Wolf of Wall Street) felt instead like a lackluster, messy, shallow portrayal of Barry Seal that didn't flow well and felt like it was filmed by a particularly shaky hand. If you want to be entertained with stories about drug lords in the 80s, stick to Narcos.

Simply told: This is a darn good movie, taking a rather light approach to a dark time in the history of American dirty little wars. Somehow, though, some critics just can't let go of the idea of putting down Tom Cruise for a reason or another. I'll just say this: Give the guy a break, he has long paid is dues and anyway his acting fits perfectly with this tale.
