Though the commercials did their best to portray it as such. And I honestly don't know what the director's intention was, but it's essentially a comedic biography, with very little comedy. I don't know if Edgerton was told that. I couldn't tell if he was trying to be funny in some scenes, or if it just came off that way because Eddie was like that in real life and Edgerton is a master thespian. Either way, the movie as a whole is pretty decent.

I thought this movie would be interesting since it's based on a true story, but to be honest it was kind of boring. There were some parts that were good , but it's not a movie I'd watch again.

More than a little liberty with the facts was taken, and a bunch of made up stuff too. However with a pinch of salt this is a fun underdog tale about someone who really embodied the Olympic amateur spirit. Too bad they changed the rules after so he wasn't able to qualify in 92 or 96 in spite of s almost doubling his distance.
