Sleeping with Other People (IFC)

I hoped this wouldn't devolve into a cliche rom-com because the dialogue is so much smarter than that, but it more or less does. (Also, in the spirit of saving you from unexpected awkwardness, be warned that the sex scenes are very Rated R... in case you are watching with extended family or in a public place, like on an airplane...).

This was THE WORSE movie I've EVER seen!!! And I'm usually one who finds something good, entertaining, or useful from a film. Esp if I was the one who selected it (which I did for this...it was a Redbox rental). I've never walked out of a movie at a theater or ditched a video while it was playing, so this was a first for me! Nothing redeeming about it. Trust me. I feel myself wanting to apologize for saying all of this, but I won't! Thank u Lena Dunham! U are SO right.

A serviceable rom-com. The first act is rough. The set-up for the main characters is overshadowed by bad writing and worse editing. The entire movie is pretty badly aced, but the first act especially is very rough. Once the story really gets set into motion though, Allison Brie and Jason Sudeikis really elevate the movie. Their chemistry is excellent and the characters seem to handle things in a more "realistic" way that many other romantic comedies I've seen. There are a handful of sex scenes, and while there is no/very limited nudity, they are graphic. Overall, a decent time waster movie.
