About this movie

Insightful. Original. Exquisite. Georges and Anne have known a lifetime of love within their intimate marriage. Though their bond has survived time's test, it's about to meet its greatest challenge. Acclaimed director Michael Haneke brings a performance tour-de-force to the screen in a film that exalts the beautiful, compassionate and courageous within us all.

Beyond senescence and its effects on an individual, this movie provides a compelling picture of its emotional implications on the sufferer and the people around her, raises questions on the value of life in such a stage, demonstrates the mutual degeneration that arises from codependency. It takes patience. Usually movies aren't this unflinching. But it's fantastic, and honest, and intimate, and vulnerable, and I loved it.

The husband and I watched this last night... It was so incredibly depressing, And there were moments that scenes drug out for WAYYYY too long. Awful. I'm not sure why it was nominated for anything.

The most pointlessly depressing movie ever made. A lot of moments that could have been so much better but the director decided to have this movie devolve into just segments of sadness.
