About this movie

After a long and explosive life in munitions, involving a number of the seminal moments and phenomena of the 20th century, including the Spanish Civil War, the Atomic Bomb, and Cold War espionage, Allan Karlsson finds himself - on his 100th birthday - stuck in a tranquil Swedish nursing home. Determined to escape the monotony, he hops out a window and kicks off a hilarious and unexpected comic-adventure by way of a stolen briefcase, a roughneck biker gang, and an escaped circus elephant named Sonya. Adapted from the runaway international best-seller, THE 100-YEAR-OLD MAN WHO CLIMBED OUT THE WINDOW AND DISAPPEARED is a charming, globe-trotting riff on world history and the highest-grossing Swedish film of all-time.

I stumbled on this after reading the book and decided to purchase it. I just saw the blu-ray in a store today and its the same exact movie, but this version has english dubbed voice instead of just subtitle. Just because I bought this digitally doesn't mean I should receive a lesser version.

Because then i could give this a 7. Its a 'cute' story ( mostly told in Swedish, with subtitles ; though narration is in English) , it is most certainly the "Forrest Gump" of foreign films. Don't get me wrong, i was that rare outsider who strongly disliked Gump... however the 100 year man has alot more charm imo. Anyway its definitely worth a watch no? Hmmmm as always J "Lovits"

this is a Swedish version of Forrest Gump, only worst in every way. Calling this movie idiotic would not be exaggeration. Waste of time and money. Not sure why it was nominated for an Oscar. Stay away.
