Love this movie and the many different issues it includes without throwing any one of them in your face; they're subtle. It allows one to see the most important element more clearly: the strong family bond they share. Personally, my deaf kids and I appreciate that it portrays a deaf man as a typical person. He isn't treated "special" or ignored by his family. They don't act like he is different than the hearing family members in any way. I wish everyone understood that this is normal!

I know a lot of people do not like this movie. It is funny, sad, and at times uncomfortable. I personally love it and watch not only every Christmas, but throughout the year. To me this is just one of those movies that you can enjoy any time of year. If you like all these amazing actors, and there are lots, you will enjoy it too.

Let's skip making the plot and script and just bring as many hot topics as possible into one movie. Awkward moments, horrible family dynamic and no value to the characters as genuine people.
