About this movie

Everyone has a breaking point. Pray that Carrie White doesn't reach hers. Angela Bettis (Girl, Interrupted) stars in this bone-chilling update of Stephen King's legendary tale of horror and retribution, featuring eye-popping special effects and a shocking, all-new twist ending! Carrie White (Bettis) is a lonely, awkward teenage girl who just doesn't fit in. At school, she endures her classmates' constant ridicule, and at home she suffers endless psychological torture at the hands of her fanatically religious mother (Patricia Clarkson, "Six Feet Under"). But Carrie has a secret. She's been cursed with the terrifying power of telekinesis. And when her tormentors commit an act of unforgivably cruel humiliation at the prom, they'll soon learn a deadly lesson: If you mess with fire, you will get burned!

Pretty good, remember seeing it years ago in the early 2000s on tv (of course this adaption was a made for TV movie and was actually supposed to be the "pilot" episode to a tv series of Carrie). As you can see the Carrie tv series never continued but this is a pretty well done movie. I gave it 4 stars because of the cheesiness to it. The acting wasn't that great and some parts of the movie kinda felt like a documentary style movie. Other than that this version is about as close to the book as you'll get

This adapation delivers in strange, good ways. It adds more from the book, has a good prom attack scene, but also has the strangest visual effects. The performance of Angela Bettis is really good and very human, you can feel her in this. The ending well that's a suprise! So it's a rather odd but decent adapation.

Sissy Spacek in the original sets the standard for this story. Nothing against the actors in this, but why o why do we have all these reboots of already great films?
