About this movie

Clint Eastwood's big screen version of the Tony Award®-winning musical tells the story of the four young men from the wrong side of the tracks in New Jersey who came together to form the iconic '60s rock group The Four Seasons. Their trials and triumphs are accompanied by the hit songs that influenced a generation, and are now being embraced by a new generation of fans through the stage musical.

While it was a little slow to start, once the movie gets going, when they become The Four Seasons, it really catches your attention and keeps you interested in how Frankie Valli turned into an icon that transcends the generation gap. Moderate language. But, if you're a fan of Jersey Boys or The Four Seasons, give it a chance. It's worth the time. :)

I enjoyed this movie adaptation of the theatrical production, The Jersey Boys. If you love Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, the music scenes will do it for you, particularly the theatrical ending. However, if you saw the stage play you may have mixed emotions about this film. The key to the play was the unique style and energy of The Four Seasons music. You do get some of that during the enjoyable music scenes, however, all the moping and specious movie dialogue stuffed in between can get tedious. I was not at all happy with the “years later” reminiscing scene at the end. The aging makeup was pretty questionable. I would have much preferred age appropriate substitute actors, the way “A League of Their Own” did so well. That said, it was time well spent and I found myself singing along a few times.

I love movies like this, but this one didn't deliver (for me). They didn't do a good job of helping the viewer understand the characters to a point of getting us invested and interested. Great story that was poorly told.
