About this movie

In the summer of 1948, Dr. Faraday travels to attend to a patient at Hundreds Hall, home to the Ayres family for more than two centuries. The Hall is now in decline and its inhabitants are haunted by something more ominous than a dying way of life. When he takes on his new patient, Faraday has no idea how closely, and how disturbingly, the family's story is about to become entwined with his own. Based on the book by bestselling author Sarah Waters, The Little Stranger stars Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina, Brooklyn) and is directed by Oscar®-nominated director Lenny Abrahamson (Room).

Most of the poor reviews refer to the apparent vague story line, slower pace of the movie and the ambiguous ending, which are unconventional. I think the problem is that the movie is highly misunderstood. The film is not a horror/thriller movie as most viewers would expect. It is actually a film that explores the longing to love and be loved, to be part of something so desperately it becomes obssesive and destructive. It's a great film that leaves you thinking and asking questions after it ends.

This movie wants to be so much more. A romance, scope to discuss mental illness, a horror movie late life coming of age... idk. Nothing worth watching to be scared. Acting was okay, in that I completely felt awkward im the awkward parts.

Not scary at all... thought this was gunna be thrilling but I ended up thinking like "is this over yet" towards the end... but it had some good parts but not one of my favorite. Acting is great just drags....
