About this movie

Seventeen-year-old brooding artist Dane (Chris Massoglia) and his eager ten-year-old brother Lucas (Nathan Gamble) move from Brooklyn to a small rural town with their mother (Teri Polo). Dane is miserable until he notices their hot seventeen-year-old neighbor Julie (Haley Bennett), who gives this otherwise dismal town some hope. While unpacking, the boys uncover a strange locked door in the floor of their new basement. After managing to get the door open, they uncover a deep, black hole that of course they venture into and it leads to the darkest corridors of their fears and nightmares.

Having lived in a house with a hatch in my closet that opened up into a dark hole, I testify that this is a true story - of my life. Okay, while it isn't really my personal life, I did have a hole in my closet that opened to a dark passage that my friends, my family and myself all thought was a dimension to another world. There was always noises, bumps, knocking and things scurrying under the hatch, only to open it up, and nothing was there. It literally for years was my worst nightmare. Just like in the movie!

Its a very slow burn... my attention kept wandering. It really just didn't strike me as a strong finish either. Nothing about it really stood out to me.
