About this movie

Four years after the gut-wrenching, head-turning terrors of the boxoffice monster "The Exorcist," Regan (Linda Blair) is still possessed by the demons that took movie horror to a new dimension. John Boorman ("Excalibur," "Deliverance," "The Emerald Forest") directs this stylish sequel whose cast includes Oscar-winner Louise Fletcher ("The Cheap Detective," "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"), Oscar-nominee Richard Burton ("Equus," "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf"), Ned Beatty ("Roseanne," "Superman") and James Earl Jones ("Field of Dreams," "Clear and Present Danger"). to make a sequel to to Exorcist movie this way. A fake priest acting like a skeptical psychologist/scientist to bizarre insect scene in Africa not in Iraq where it got the idol. It is almost like psychedelic movie from one scene to another scene abruptly. Maybe they are too stoned to figure out where they were. The time just don't seem to move fast enough when watching this.

Underated. Different than original. More comic booky / sci-fi / supernatural. It doesnt try to horrify like the original. It fleshes out the backstory, who the demon is, and how the humans do psychological battle with it. More of a view from inside the possesseds minds than out. Its a bit inadvertently campy which is what didsapoints those expecting more of part one. If u can come to terms w the fact E2 is more Indiana Jones less E1, you might enjoy the wild ride on the demons wings. A great cast.
