About this movie

Aspiring street dancer Skyler (Teyana Taylor) is at a major crossroads in her life. She’s decided to try out for the same dance crew as her formally trained sister Tosha (Sierra McClain) in order to compete for a college scholarship, but is discouraged by her family and boyfriend who doubt that her raw, edgy talent is enough for her to win. Determined to prove them all wrong, Skyler practices non-stop in Atlanta’s underground dance scene and catches the eye of Tyrell (Bryshere Y. Gray). He helps her take her sexy dance and hip-hop battle skills to the next level in order to achieve her dreams. - ( Original Title - Honey: Rise Up and Dance )

Well, since I can't be creative enough to write a plot that differs from all dance movies...i can't complain. Granted most movies in all categories have very similar plots, Christina, I must add that you should appreciate the fact that the dance moves get better each time. Now, I will say that I was very impressed with the way Skyler moved. Every hit, tuck , wave and pow was on point! And I am not a big twerk fan but I recognize a twerkinista when I see it. Too bad cheerleaders in this generation dance like strippers, lol! SMH.

The plot has been done many times in dance flicks over the past few years. A dancer is struggling. The dancer is part of one faction rivaling another in an upcoming competition. Blah blah blah. Usually, you can pinch your nose and wait for some incredible dance sequence to make up for the wooden acting and terrible dialogue. I admit the leads have some chemistry, but the dialogue just is not there, and the dance sequences rely too much on twerking to make up for it.
