I really liked it despite somethings which are understadable for a movie. One it did fit into the existing alien movies as a prequel but yes you still have questions because it is a two parter or will be. Now for the naysaers no it doesn't go with avp ridley scott had nothing to do with avp story line and niether does the regular alien movies , they are mostly by fans considered separate universes . No ship didn't have sheilds this isn't star trek it is alien , a projectile weapon would have done just fine in crashing the ship. David is an android depending on how he was built removing his head didn't inhibit many of his functions because he isn't human , the other androids in the alien series have been damaged and still retained plenty of functionality. As far as her having that alien cut out of her and then running around . Yeah unbelivable but in movie magic we see this a lot . A character is injured and just keeps on going . No in real life most of the time humans can't handle trauma and just keep fighting running like this but movies want you believe their characters are exceptional beings whose spirit won't allow them to fail in their missions to be our heros . Lov the movie

Great concept, music, production and effects; visually stunning and beautiful; acting and dialog mostly pretty good with a few flubs. It starts very strong and has a decent ending, but has many, many silly, easily corrected errors and plot problems.Things like taking off helmets in the tunnel, scientists acting goofy when confronted with obviously dangerous unknown life, campy forced tension, drunks, etc. Some examples: When Prometheus approaches the planet, we read that it is 3.27 e14 Km distant (36 light years) but later the crew talks about being "half a billion miles from home"- fail. They don't have FTL, so assume 1yr acceleration to 0.9c and then 1yr deceleration to stop; the crew would experience ~ 3yr in sleep but close to 40 years would pass on earth - but the stated dates don't reflect that. And at the end, they activate the "ion drive" - give me a break, ion drive is LOW thrust, and would never work for interstellar travel. Scott needed a better on-set physicist. I had really hoped for true "hard" SciFi; close but no cigar. Even with all the problems, it is an OK movie, I enjoyed it more when I watched it again recently than when I saw it in the theater.

Ridley Scott's Blade Runner, Alien and even his 1984 themed Apple commercial were marks of his genius. Prometheus however, comes more than thirty years removed from Alien's cinematic brilliance. It is a moronic travesty and one of the worst 'sequels' of all time. It starts well, but quickly devolves into a nonsensical series of character kill offs and Michael Bay-style pyrotechnics. Scott's so-called 'surprise ending' was actually a sad last nail in the coffin of this slow motion train wreck.
