Truly a fantastic movie with many classic references to the pulp comic canon...only jumps the shark on one point...easy to pick up on but doesnt take anything away from great performances and the actors and actresses in it...

Its a campy 1990's attempt at a 1940's radio show. Succeeds in that attempt. It was a super hero film before this modern era of super hero films. I personally would have loved sequels.

The Shadow is a mystery man, a classic character who's like a madhouse mix of Batman, Ghost Rider, Eliot Ness, Dracula, and a very dark yet somehow amused Deadpool (the Shadow's laugh really just makes the blood-spilling hero even scarier). I enjoyed most of this movie, did not see the start. I plan to buy it, because I love the character and if I recall, the moviemakers went with some of the wild ideas in the late-'80s Shadow comics which are finally out in digital format. (Pure absurdism--look them up!) Only the Shadow knows who or what the Shadow really is, but he is a mystical machine of massacre to the malevolent forces that threaten the innocent. He'll plug a thug as soon as look at 'im. Batman's morals may make more sense, but the Shadow has a power and purity that is heaven-sent and hell-bent. A great performance by Baldwin, who may have gotten a kick out of bringing back the most enigmatic crimefighter in the history of pulp fiction.
