About this movie

With a new iPhone, an apartment near the Grove, and a comfortable bank account left to her by her beloved late husband, Marnie Minervini (Susan Sarandon) has happily relocated from New Jersey to Los Angeles to be near her daughter Lori (Rose Byrne), a successful but still single screenwriter, and smother her with motherly love. But when the dozens of texts, unexpected visits, and conversations dominated by unsolicited advice force Lori to draw strict personal boundaries, Marnie finds ways to channel her eternal optimism and forceful generosity to change the lives of others - as well as her own - and find a new purpose in life.

Good movie, mainly because I love the lead actors. Some reviews are so laughable. One said it's completely fictional because no one treats their Mother this way & found it unrelatable. Mother/Daughter relationships can be complicated with periods of closeness & not so much. Anyway, good storyline; Sarandon & Simmons have amazing chemistry!

I have always been close to my parents, they are my best friends. I dont know anyone who hates their mother as much as this mother child combo. Sorry I just couldnt relate or understand it. Turned it off after 30 minutes. I guess people hate each other after a death in the family. I always found it brought people closer together after loosing a loved one. Made no sense to me. You would think she would have gotten closer to her mother since her father died. Weird movie made absolutely no sense.

The best scenes were in the movie trailer. Ugh! Save your money, watch the trailer and try not to think about the time you'll never get back.
