Has plenty of strong performances, great music and adept production. The subtlety of the story as it progresses (Reeves' high ambition yet mediocre abilities being the key) is wonderfully stated throughout and ends the movie on an ambiguous note that probably turned off the modern film audience. Brody's noir antagonist is a little too likable but this is offset by enough ambivalent characters and plenty of skeesy ones. I also wish the designers had chosen to use a filter during at least part of the film (the colors appeared washed out to begin with but this didn't hold up) to perhaps differentiate between the multiple story lines and give the film a more distinctive quality. In the end it is a good film that stops short of being great due to some choices by the filmmakers; I give it chops simply for not concluding too much of anything and letting the audience decide what happens in the end.

I lived thru this sorrowful time. Yes, I was a child of the 50's, however I remember the reaction of myself & my pals. We only saw the TV character and not the actor! All Americans wanted to believe that the wonderful story of SUPERMAN wud go on without interruption. The conflicted George Reeves, also could not comprehend that he became an icon to his many unwanted children-fans. The cowboy actors such as William Boyd, Gene Autry & Roy Rogers embraced the hero status & the opportunity to teach children

Loved this movie! Definitely worth watching! I hadn't known there was such skepticism surrounding the death of George Reeves. I just thought he killed himself for reasons I didn't know. The movie had me so into it, I hadn't noticed that they showed me all three scenarios of how George Reeves died until the very end. LOL I don't know what that says about me, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. And it wasn't hard to keep up with either. Two thumbs up!
