About this movie

Kim Wayans, Adepero Oduye, Aasha Davis and Charles Parnell star in Dee Rees's inspiring film that critics hail is "Vibrantly alive! Potently moving and heartfelt!" (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone). Seventeen-year-old Alike (pronounced ah-lee-kay) lives with her parents and younger sister in Brooklyn's Fort Greene neighborhood. She has a flair for poetry, and is quietly embracing her identity as a lesbian. But whenever Alike's development becomes a topic of discussion at home, her parents' already strained marriage is pushed to the breaking point. Wondering how much she can confide in her family, Alike strives to get through adolescence with grace, humor, and tenacity -- sometimes succeeding, sometimes not, but always moving forward.

I thought it was a good movie seen it on HBO or Starz(cnt remember which one) awhile back and tha other night. I thought it was a good movie really showing how our young people these days are struggling with their families trying to be wat their parents want them to be and what they really are w/o hurting them and being disowned. I think tht anyone who is going thru wat she's going thru should watch this movie! :-)

Pariah is a huge inspiration to mostly the black and LGBT communities. There are many others who's in the closet not ready to express their sexually and the ones who come out to be free feeling happy for themselves not hiding anything no more. I myself I'm glad to enjoy watching Pariah so much creative and beautiful relationships. I'm an aspiring actor, recording artist, writer, designer, photographer, and chef. My life is good, but I have a huge secret.

I thought this was a great movie and i give it five stars. The story was very captivating and intriguing. It also rings true to all the children coming from unique backgrounds who are struggling with their sexualityand self discovery.
