About this movie

When recent widow Lucy Muir (Gene Tierney) rents a house by the ocean, she discovers that it's haunted by a cantankerous sea captain (Rex Harrison). In an unlikely turn of events, the two develop a friendship. The captain even helps her earn money by "ghostwriting" a book. Eventually, they fall in love, but their romance is challenged when a flesh-and-blood suitor (George Sanders) turns up.

The best movie to help us embrace the inevitable (death of earth suit) and actually fantasize leaving our Earth suits and flying away to the next stage of Eternity. A nice visual of a loving face that comes to pick us up out of our Earth suit after it has served its purpose.

One of the classics. This was my mom's favorite film from the 40s. I remember watching it on television when I was a little girl and being enthralled by the musical score. Haunting. Enchanting and an exceptional production.
