About this movie

There is a secret in the life of Mussolini: a wife and a son, Benito Albino, who was born, acknowledged and then denied. The secret bears a name: Ida Dalser. It is a dark page in history, one ignored in the official biography of the Duce.

Film about Mussolini's "affair" with his first wife. At first I thought the film was decent, not amazing, but decent. Unnecessarily vague and inconsistent in the direction. We get titles cards with city and date but then that gets thrown out the window and time passes without us knowing, but then the title cards come back sometimes... it was a little annoying. However after a little research into the actual relationship, I find the film to just be plain frustrating. The entire dynamic in the relationship is wrong. We get the impression in the film that he's having this wild love affair and then he moves on and gets married but OH! he got married to the affair girl and now she's trying to get him back. In reality, they were married and she got pregnant with his child and he moved on and got married again to somebody he was having the real affair with (his second and 'official' wife) and he and his first wife were seemingly okay being separated until he started denying it and destroying the records. I think the film should have focused on his first SON who we know even less about. anyway 2/5 meh
