About this show

Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams), respected educator and father of two, is also Black Lightning, superpowered protector of Freeland. And he doesn’t fight alone. He is joined by his superpowered daughters, Anissa (Nafessa Williams), aka Thunder, and Jennifer (China Anne McClain), aka Lightning, as well as his ex-wife, metahuman expert Lynn (Christine Adams). Together, the Pierce family combats the ills eroding their city, including a menacing gang that calls itself The 100 and infamous gangster Tobias Whale (Marvin Jones III). Worse, Freeland has been plagued by g overnment-sponsored experiments and drug trafficking, creating metahumans and addicts while making Freeland the target of a dangerous foreign power, Markovia. Fortunately, the family still has allies in their fight: former covert superspy Peter Gambi (James Remar) and Jefferson’s neighbor, the scrupulously honest deputy police chief Bill Henderson (Damon Gupton).

Virtue signalling seems to have been the purpose of creating this show. White men are the root of all evil. 3 times they show up-- 1) As racist cops, 2) As racist masterminds, 3) as a goon robbing a store (4 if you want to include a reporter) Apparently black men can't be evil. Nah, their just stupid people being taken advantage of. How this racist and degrading mindset could create this series is mind- boggling. Finally let's talk about this suit: Could it have been more steriotyped to the black community? Loud and ridiculous looking, the gaudy suit is reminiscent of the teenager covered from head to toe in fake gold chains and rings. Throw in lesbian girl power that has yet to really be if any interest and you have this show. The only reason it has any positive ratings is because it's a black TV show. Don't fall for it. There are so many shows with better black characters out there.

Let's not start this with all white people hate this show because it has a black cast. That's stupid because I loved Luke Cage. But this show is pure anti white, let's feed the paranoia and feed the racial tension going on in America right now. The first scene in the show has a white women cop kicking a door shut on BL's daughter and pointing a gun at her. Such a staged moment to make the viewers hate cops. If that's the case than why have again 2 white cops show up with tasers instead of guns at a club owned by drug dealers. The most violent city in America and all cops are white when making arrests, but all the good cops at the precinct are black or Hispanic. Just a racist show meant to grow a racially paranoid society. Remember kids watching this will grow up to be racist even if they never experienced it. That's what propaganda does.
