About this movie

Kapoor and Sons since 1921 is a dramedy that sure knows how to put the fun in "dysfunction". Rahul and Arjun, two estranged brothers are forced to return to their childhood home when their 90 year old Grandpa gets a heart attack. While living under one roof, family secrets unravel and misunderstandings are on the verge of turning into tragedy. What follows is what families are made of ... chaos, humor, heartache and redemption. Can the Kapoors get past the lies and betrayal ? Can they forgive and forget? Can these imperfect people come together, to make the perfect family? CBFC U/A (DIL/2/53/2016-MUM)

I made the mistake of renting this instead of buying it because it has repeat value. The strongest points are the characters + the story. It's very well written and performed. All 6 leads are given the scope in their character to connect with the audience. Fawad Khan + Ratna Pathak Shah are outstanding. Alia Bhatt has a smaller role but she brought tears to my eyes and made me laugh out loud and dance to her moves. Rajat Kapoor is great too as is Rishi Kapoor. Sidharth Malhotra is a delight to look at but he stands out for his limited acting skills. Music is mostly situational and pleasant. The camera-work is top-notch and the background score really adds tension to the unfolding drama. Highly recommended.

What a great little film--the kind that I have waited to see come out of the Indian film industry. Eye candies Fawad Khan and Siddharth Malhotra made it very hard to focus on anything else but it was a beautiful, layered story with strong performances and endearing characters almost like a modern day Hrishikesh Mukherji/ Shekhar Kapoor family dramedy. Loved it. Alia Bhatt is the most natural young actress of our times playing girl-next-door, tomboy milenial roles with ease. Heart warming, bittersweet and satisfying plot.

Liked it. Although, was disappointed with the role of women portrayed in the story. Despite stalwarts like Ratna Pathak Shah, and energing powerhouse, Alia Bhatt, their roles lacked that character arc. Overall, a good one time watch. Light fun with modern family take.
