About this movie

During the Manchurian-ruled Qing Dynasty, Emperor Yong Zheng creates an elite assassination squad known as the Guillotines, made to eliminate all who oppose him. But as time passes, the Guillotines are deemed expendable, and used instead to persecute the people in a reign of terror and oppression. The arrogant and complacent squad of five young warriors have never failed in 348 missions to eliminate their targets. But their newest mission leaves The Guillotines ambushed, double-crossed, and facing annihilation -- both from evil men, and the new firearms that seemingly surpass their cold steel.

This movie is ridiculous. The plot is ridiculous, the weapons the characters use (these lengths of metal wrapped around their wrists that then turn into whirling discs ala Xena that they throw with their curved swords) are ridiculous, the degree to which one of the main characters is cast as a Mao-figure is ridiculous; there is just so much about this movie that is ridiculous. It's a very pretty movie and the acting is actually pretty good, but it's hard to look past everything else to notice it. If you have a couple hours to kill and just looking for entertainment, go for it. If you want a good Chinese film, you should probably skip this one.

Not bad of a movie I wish it wasn't subtitle I spend more time reading the text instead of waching the action. I was a little disappointed for not enought action at the end.

The movie is far better than I expected. I was thinking that it would be nothing more than a good action movie, what I got was a lot more than that.
