About this movie

Sleeping Giant: An Indian Football story follows two Mumbai children on their two and a half year journey from the streets of Mumbai to London UK, attempting to realize their dreams to play professional football.

The film begins at the Indian government backed, ’South Mumbai Junior Soccer Challenger’, an event attended by nearly 2000 children from all social strata - competing for a once in a lifetime chance to train with professional club, Queens Park Rangers.

Throughout the journey we hear insightful commentary from distinguished Football journalists and sportsman, including Mihir Bose, Arunava Chauduri, Amit Bhatia, Praful Patel, Milind Deora as well as a host of senior Indian Football officials. This relates the journey of the two boys back to the current footballing situation in India. Why is it so bad? Why is India the last untapped frontier for talent? What is the history of the game in India? What does the journey of these boys mean for the future of the game?
