About this movie

In this hilarious send-up of Hollywood, a slumping screenwriter (Albert Brooks) needs a hit script or his career is finished. Desperate for inspiration, he hires a muse (Sharon Stone) ... but he soon finds that inspiration comes at a high price. High-maintenance requests, gifts from Tiffany's and sharing Stone with other Hollywood talents (including Jeff Bridges, wife Andie MacDowell and Martin Scorsese) all conspire to thwart his efforts.

I love this movie! It's very light and comedic. Several big stars and lots of cool cameos. It's a cute story that unfolds quite nicely. I've watched this movie several times several times over the last few years after becoming aware of it. I wish they would make more movies like this. Everything seems to be about superheroes these days!

The Muse is absolutely hilarious and uplifting. It's an intelligently written, witty, sarcastically frustrating journey through the intricacies and obstacles of a Hollywood screenwriter. It keeps you laughing, while wanting the main character to succeed, as he tries to cheat the system and cut his work in half, by hiring a Muse to help him with his script. It's filled with subtle lessons, and funny situations, and Albert Brooks is at his best, as he slowly finds out that it's not that easy after all! I watch this movie every time I'm feeling down, sick, or otherwise not right, and it always grounds me and puts a smile on my face. I recommend owning it!
