Benjamin Troubles

My actual rating is 4 1/2 (sorry), but they would only allow whole stars, so I chose 5 instead of 4. A young man, down on his luck is given a pair of magic jeans that produce a $100 bill every hour on the hour 24/7. He thinks his life will now be GREAT, but as many of us know, "be careful what you wish for". Some things DO get better for him, but other things get WORSE. This movie has it all: good writing, good directing, good cinematography, good acting, you name it. It is MOSTLY a drama, but it DOES have some comedy in it. Manu Intiraymi SHINES as Benjamin. Mishel Prada is very good as his love interest, Nova; and Phillip Andre Botello is amazingly funny in an understated way. Everyone else was good as well, but these 3 were the standouts. VERY much worth whatever money you put out to watch it!

You don't always know what you'll get with a low-budget indie film, but what you get with "Benjamin Troubles" is an interesting, unique premise and a witty script that brings out funny, engaging performances from the lead actors. It's a well-produced, fast-paced mix of comedy, drama and fantasy that was technically impressive for an indie, benefitting from crisp, well-paced direction and clever cinematography. Worth your time.

Likeable loser Benjamin embarks on a magical trippy-crazy love story with twists that will entertain you all the way through. Funny, well-shot and well-acted indie. Totally recommend it.
