I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Even without the music it would have been great. But, with the music... Many people relate to Bruce's music. Personally, it has been like a constant companion in my life - riding along in the car on long, lonely drives, giving hope, helping to heal the nation after 9/11, or just a good story. I guess it's the understanding of the personal experience Bruce's music has had on me that made me really appreciate this film.

This is Gurinder Chadha's best film so far. If you want a glimpse into what it was like to be a South Asian growing up in Thatcher's Britain, then this movie is for you. It touches on many sensitive topics: politics, racism, socioeconomic class, as well as dating, romance, and the influence of peers. Central to the story are a traditional Pakistani father's expectations for his son, and that son seeing things through a radically different lens. Bruce Springsteen's music plays no small role.
