12 The Audit

In what could be their last case as partners, Jake and Charles go to great extremes to apprehend a local bike thief. 16 Cop-Con

About this show

From Emmy Award-winning writer/producers Dan Goor and Michael Schur (Parks and Recreation), and starring Emmy Award winners Andy Samberg (Saturday Night Live) and Andre Braugher (Men of a Certain Age, Homicide: Life on the Street), Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a new single-camera ensemble comedy about what happens when a talented, but carefree, detective gets a new captain with a lot to prove. Detective Jake Peralta (Samberg) is a good enough cop that he's never had to work that hard or follow the rules too closely. Perhaps because he has the best arrest record among his colleagues, he's been enabled - if not indulged - throughout his entire career. That is, until the precinct gets a new commanding officer, Captain Ray Holt (Braugher), who reminds this hotshot cop to respect the badge.

Season 1-7 are absolutely amazing. I’ve watched it through several times, recommended it to everyone. Season 8 is pure garbage, George Floyd, oppressed blacks, police brutality, and Jesus Christ Amy is an emotional train wreck that needs a Xanax and to disappear for a few episodes. I pray to god they don’t ruin Yellowstone like they did this show.

A fun show with great characters (including great recurring characters like the Pontiac Bandit)! My only complaint is that the writers don't always let the jokes breathe, if that makes sense. Sometimes, they'll hammer a joke home too hard and oversell it. But that only happens occasionally. On the whole, this is a sweet, funny, and well-acted show.

This show is funny, immersive and well cast. It's also pretty diversely cast, other than a distinct lack of Asian and/or trans characters, both a weird absence from New York City for a show that is clearly thinking about representation. (OTOH maybe it's best they don't try to do trans 101 here.) In any case, while you laugh, don't forget that the protagonists' moral compass is way off from most people; they accept atrocities and domination that average citizens protest as the background noise of law & order.
