Derek is absolutely firm with Mavis that he will not interfere in Steph and Des's affairs. But then Steph asks him to keep quiet, acknowledging that something is going on. Later in the day, Derek confronts her in the garden, where she is sunbathing. Phyllis overhears angry words, and jumps to the wrong conclusion. Steve and Andy are talking about setting up a pirate radio station. Ken offers Deirdre a loan of £300, but she gets Emily to loan her some money instead. Percy discovers that Emily is not selling up after all, and later he is found, writhing breathless on the floor, by his new landlady, Winnie Dyson.
