Fixer-Upper vs. Move-In Ready in New Jersey

Michael and Kristin are newly engaged and living in Michael's childhood bedroom in his parents' house in Boonton, New Jersey, while they search for a place of their own. With 7 people living under one roof, plus 3 dogs and 2 cats, they're in a bit of a hurry. Michael wants to find a fixer-upper that they can put their own stamp on, but Kristin thinks they already have too much on their plate, and would prefer something move-in ready. She also definitely doesn't want a bi-level. But even with a budget of $500,000, getting on the same page will be a challenge.
