Bai Xing Meng privately approaches Cheng Yao, tearfully expressing concerns about being followed and threatened by Xu Jun. She pleads with Cheng Yao to reject Xu Jun on her behalf. Unable to ignore Bai Xing Meng's distress, Cheng Yao decides to support her and turn down Xu Jun's settlement request as per her plea. To their surprise, the next day brings news of Xu Jun's suicide by jumping off a building, accompanied by a suicide note. Xu Jun's tragic death becomes headline news. Bai Xing Meng, however, shifts all responsibility to Cheng Yao and engages Deng Ming's law firm instead. It is only then that Cheng Yao realizes Bai Xing Meng has taken advantage of her.
