Wu Jun, under the guise of being a public interest lawyer, requests to become Cheng Xi's assistant. Qian Heng states that there is no need to continue investigating Dong Shan's case, and Cheng Yao learns about Dong Shan's unexpected death in a car accident. The two attend Dong Shan's memorial service, where his wife, Jiang Wen Xiu, is overcome with grief. She earnestly asks Qian Heng and Cheng Yao to keep confidential the matter of Dong Shan's desire for a divorce before his death. Cheng Yao is moved by Jiang Wen Xiu's deep love for her deceased husband, but Qian Heng points out that Jiang Wen Xiu's haste to cremate Dong Shan is to prevent Chen Qing Mei from being able to verify her baby's DNA.
