When A Remake Isn’t Actually A Remake At All

At this point, we all know Hollywood LOVES remakes. But sometimes, a “remake” isn’t actually remaking the movie you think it is. When Mark Wahlberg's The Italian Job hit theaters in 2003, it was marketed as a modern update of the 1969 Michael Caine classic. But if you look closer, the film has way more in common with Ocean’s Eleven than its supposed predecessor.

So what happens when a remake borrows the style, structure, and vibes of a completely different film...then slaps an old IP name on top of it? Did they really think nobody would notice?
