Karin Lossow (Katrin Sass) stands at the railing of the Ahlbeck pier. When she turns around, a man suddenly stands in front of her and smiles smugly. It is Karol Zielinski (Viktor Loga) – the man she believes to be the real murderer of her daughter Julia. Karin, suddenly with a sawed-off shotgun in her hand, aims at him. She pulls the trigger. He falls to the ground and is dead on the spot. As she walks back to her car, Zielinski is suddenly standing in front of her again. He offers to bring Julia back. A nightmare! One of many that have haunted the former prosecutor again and again since the death of her daughter. Near the beach promenade, a jogger discovers a dead man on a bench. His upper body is covered with snow and ice crystals. Inspector Rainer Witt (Till Firit) takes over the investigation - together with his team Holm Brendel (Rainer Sellien) and Dorit Martens (Jana Julia Roth).
