La rumeur du monstre du Loch Ness
Il s’agit de l’une des plus vieilles et plus connues rumeurs au monde. L’historien Thomas Snegaroff décrypte l’origine de cette légende pour Brut.
Un monstre, une créature légendaire, vivrait dans les profondeurs du lac du Loch Ness, en Ecosse. Y a-t-il réellement monstre dans le lac écossais ? En tout cas nombreux sont ceux qui témoignent l’avoir vu.
L’affaire commence en 1933, lorsqu’un médecin, Robert Kenneth Wilson, prétend avoir photographié le monstre du Loch Ness, une créature à la forme étrange émergeant du lac. La photographie fait la une du journal local, le Daily Mail et la légende se renforce. Cette légende, vieille de 1500 ans, à la fois celte, chrétienne et étayée au fil du temps, décrit une créature monstrueuse et millénaire vivant dans le Loch Ness. Une affabulation ? En tout cas, le médecin avoue en 1994 que la photographie n’était qu’un mensonge.
Bien que la rumeur se mêle à la superstition, cette créature magique surnommée Nessie, attire de nombreux touristes en quête d’une rencontre du troisième type.
