In the living room of her house, the young Anicée discovers the bodies of her parents, Julien and Lise Fromentin, who have been shot dead. Louis Grandet, the neighbor who alerted the police, a former subordinate of Jean-Paul Roche's father's father, is the main witness. In a state of shock, Anicée, comforted by her boyfriend, rummages through her memories. Because the young girl seems convinced that the motive is linked to her father's job, Cassandre meets the forest rangers of the French Agency for Woods and Forests where Julien Fromentin worked as the new director.
