Fourmis formidables
Fred et Jamy nous emmènent observer les fourmis. Leur camion prend la direction de Mulhouse et s'arrête dans une forêt de conifères où vivent des fourmis des bois. Fred nous dévoile les caractéristiques d'une fourmilière et de ses habitantes. Cet insecte, appelé hyménoptère existe depuis des millions d'années. En France, on en a dénombré au moins 180 espèces différentes. Nous verrons comment les colonies de fourmis s'organisent et se reproduisent grâce à leur reine, et quel est le rôle écologique joué par les fourmis des bois qui se nourrissent essentiellement d'insectes. Au vivarium, Fred nous montre le travail des fourmis "fourrageuses" chargées d'alimenter leurs colonies. Nous parlerons également des fourmis plus redoutables comme les "champignonnistes" ou les "magnans" d'Afrique. Puis, nous irons dans un laboratoire de Toulouse où on étudie la fourmi d'Argentine qui élève des pucerons pour les "traire".
