Corporal Mark Weir is blown to bits at an outdoor training exercise at Brentfield barracks but when the police arrive on the scene they are puzzled as no live ammunition was used in the exercise. Then they discover the remains of a woman's corpse with an explosive device in her mouth,clearly detonated to kill Mark - who,it turns out was a closet gay. Hazel asks for Jake's involvement,to Eve's discomfort,following the attack by Ally. Eve believes the woman was killed by lieutenant Howard Stubbs,an arrogant ladies' man.
