Antonio quiere sorprender estas fiestas a Mercedes con un regalo ineseperado: Quiere llevarla a conocer el mar. Sin embargo el presupuesto no llega para cubrir los gastos de ese viaje y opta por otro, este más barato, al Monasterio de Piedra, donde también hay mucha agua por cierto. El problema es conseguir el dinero para pagarlo y sólo hay un manera de hacerlo: Marcharse esa misma tarde a cobrar a un pueblo de la sierra. Un cliente les ha prometido pagarles un encargo si acuden hasta allí. Antonio, acompañado de Desi, toman un coche prestado y se encaminan a la sierra. Pero en el camino de vuelta les sorprende una fuerte ventisca y el automóvil se estropea en un paraje desolado por el que no pasa alma viviente.
La proximidad de la venida de los Reyes Magos provoca una gran ansiedad en Carlos y sus amigos. Por un lado está la dificultad de confeccionar la carta a sus majestades.
