Una serie de leves terremotos, que se inician en Andalucía y luego se extienden a toda la Península, siembran el terror entre la población y , por mucho que las autoridades intentan tranquilizar a la opinión pública, ésta se encuentra cada vez más inquieta. A eso se une que el Estado de Excepción continúa y que, en esos días, un estudiante de Medicina llamado Enrique Ruano muere en extrañas circunstancias.
