El bebé encontrado por Mercedes en el capítulo anterior resulta ser una preciosa niña de la que se encariñan las tres mujeres de la familia Alcántara. Antonio consigue convencer a su mujer para llevar a la niña al hospital y dejar que las autoridades se hagan cargo de ella.
Entre tanto, Don Pablo se empeña en convertir a Antonio en un señor de categoría, para que pueda representar convenientemente a la empresa entre las "altas esferas". Para ello le regala un manual de buenos modales y lo lleva a comer a un refinado y carísimo restaurante, el "Club 21.
Durante esos días se llevan a cabo los preparativos del concurso de belleza "Miss San Genaro 1969", en el que se elige a la joven más guapa del barrio. Tinín y Desi forman parte del jurado, y Antonio y Cervan dudan de su honradez porque en otras ediciones del concurso nunca han ganado las más guapas, sino las mejor recomendadas.
Por su parte, Carlos y sus amigos Luis y Josete deciden hacer un concurso paralelo para elegir a la belleza infantil del barrio. Aunque todos están de acuerdo en que Mayka es la más guapa, su decisión se ve afectada por ciertas presiones, como sucede con los mayores.
