El despido de Desi ha terminado por agotar la paciencia de Antonio. Cansado de no pintar nada en Meyni, se plantea muy seriamente aceptar la oferta de Don Pablo para trabajar con él en sus negocios de importación y exportación con la Unión Soviética. Sin tiempo de asimilar las desavenencias con su marido, Mercedes se encuentra con que ha sido presentada precisamente por Don Pablo al concurso "Mujer ideal 1971". Toda la familia se verá envuelta en una vorágine de pruebas, entrevistas y grabaciones.
