Octubre de 1978. El primer Congreso Nacional de la Unión del Centro Democrático viene a confirmar que es el momento de Adolfo Suárez. No ocurre lo mismo con Antonio Alcántara que, casi sin darse cuenta, ve como poco a poco la UCD deja de contar con él. Aquel partido en el que había puesto todas sus ilusiones y esperanzas ahora le da de lado y no le queda más remedio que asumirlo.
Quien no parece dar de lado a Antonio es Pituca, la vecina del segundo, que cada día se muestra más atenta con él. La mujer dice que lo está pasando mal porque su marido el notario no le hace caso, y no duda en desahogarse con Merche contándole sus intimidades sin ningún tipo de pudor.
