Excalibur, réalisé par John Boorman et sorti en 1981, fait parti de cette catégorie !
Précis dans son adaptation, Excalibur n'oublie jamais de faire du cinéma, de l'épique, des décors grandioses, une maturité qui inspireront un Game of Thrones par exemple, une féerie dont Peter Jackson s'inspirera pour le seigneur des anneaux !
