In response to Kuga's provocation, Soma decides to demonstrate her culinary prowess at the upcoming festival. Deciding to confront Kuga directly, Soma approaches Miyoko Hojo, who specializes in Chinese cuisine like Kuga. Miyoko explains that Kuga has a preference for spicy Sichuan cuisine and takes Soma to the Chinese Cuisine Research Society.
Soma is shocked to see many chefs working perfectly together. They are all trained by Kuga himself.
He gets a booth right in front of Kuga and decides to serve Chinese cuisine as well. As Soma submits his application form, Erina tells him that he will be expelled if his booth loses money.
