A businessman with a sulphurous reputation is found murdered on the pier of the port of Toga. An enigmatic and striking detail: his ears have been cut off. For Commander Gabrielle Monti, for whom this is the last case since her return to the country, an investigation begins on the tightrope, between past and present. Gabrielle must prove herself in an investigation where the victim was once suspected of blackmail and murder by her father, the investigating judge Xavier Monti.
